• Head:  Monocular, binocular, or teaching head.  Heads rotate 360 degrees. (pictures)
• Eyepiece(s):  10x wide field glass eyepiece(s) with pointer installed.  
  * The pointer is useful in instruction, allowing specific objects on the slide to be pointed out.
• 16x Eyepieces (optional accessory) yield 64x, 160x and 640x.
• Objectives:  DIN achromatic multi-coated glass objectives -- 4X (NA 0.1), 10X (NA 0.25), and 40XR (NA 0.65)
  * Total magnifications are 40x, 100x, and 400x.
  * The "R", as in "40XR" means the objective tip will retract if it comes in contact with the slide.
  * "NA" refers to the numerical aperture of the objective, a measure of the light-gathering capacity of the objective.
  * Coated lenses offer better resolution than non-coated lenses.
• Objectives are Parfocal and Parcentric:
  * Parfocal - object stays in focus when another is objective selected.
  * Parcentric - object stays centered in view when another is objective selected.
• Quadruple Nosepiece:  Allows you to add a fourth objective.
• Illumination (110V and 220V):  Options include fluorescent (7W) and variable halogen (15W).  Cordless LED also offered (more details below).
  * An extra bulb is included with each microscope.
• Condenser:  Moveable Abbe condenser, NA 1.25
  * The condenser is located above the light source and below the stage.  It gathers light from the microscope light source and concentrates it into a cone of light that illuminates the specimen with uniform intensity over the entire viewfield.
  * An Abbe condenser is composed of two lenses and performs better than the simple, single lens condenser.
• Focusing (pictures):  Fine and Coarse focusing with anti-slip clutch.  "Plus" models feature more advanced coaxial focus.
  * Anti-slip clutch keeps the focus from drifting.

• Iris Diaphragm:
  * Can be set for bigger or smaller aperture for more or less light passage.  Helps control the intensity of illumination.  Iris diaphragms are better than disk diaphragms.
• Stage:  Size is 122mm x 120mm.  Pre-drilled and tapped for mechanical stage.  Slide clips standard on models without mechanical stages.
• Mechanical Stage (picture):  Standard (built-in) on the "Plus" models and optional on others (removable). 
  * A mechanical is very useful, especially when viewing at higher powers.  Just pop the slip in the holder and use the knobs to precisely move the slide.
• Adjustable Stage Stop
  * Properly set, prevents objective from contacting the slide.
• Swing-Out Filter Holder:  Blue and green filters included.
• Mirror Illuminator Included
• Dust cover included to protect the microscope when not in use.
• Carry Case:  (optional accessory)  Soft-sided black canvas case with rigged supports.
• Super protective fitted styrofoam packaging ensures maximum protection from shipping damage.
• Lifetime Warranty on materials and workmanship.  One year on electronics (excludes bulbs and fuses).  A warranty card comes with the microscope.
